About the year 1870 he removed to Kansas City, Missouri, and in 1871 was appointed by Mayor William Warner to the office of City Physician, and reappointed for the year 1872 by Mayor R. H. Hunt. In politics, he was a Democrat. He was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church; Mrs. Evans of the Episcopal Church.
