General Notes: Husband - Charles Sumner Evans, D.D.S.

His education began in the public schools of Tidioute, Warren County, Pennsylvania, and he graduated from the high school with the class of 1885. He was chosen valedictorian of his class. For a time he worked on his father's farm, and when twenty-one years of age went to Springfield, Ohio, where he was engaged in the florist's business for about three years. He then closed out and in the autumn of 1892 went to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and entered the University of Pennsylvania, where he pursued a full course in dentistry and graduated from that institution in 1895, having been elected president of his class. Leaving college he went to Pittsburgh and at once opened an office at the corner of Center and Highland avenues, where he built for himself a splendid professional reputation and enjoyed a lucrative practice in dental surgery. He belonged to the Pennsylvania State Dental Society; was a member of the Odontological Society of Western Pennsylvania; Hailman Lodge, No. 321, Free and Accepted Masons, and the Royal Arcanum. Politically he was affiliated with the Republican party. He was also interested in various business enterprises.
