General Notes: Husband - George Espy

His father, in March, 1775, conveyed to him a tract of land granted him by the Proprietaries in then Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, to which he moved the same year. The tract of land was situated not far from the present borough of Nanticoke, and he built a log house thereon. He was commissioned May 31, 1800, a justice of the peace for the district consisting of the townships of Hanover and Wilkes-Barre, which office he held at the time of his death. He was a mason by trade, and built by contract the old stone jail which was situated on East Market street, Wilkes-Barre.
