General Notes: Husband - W. H. Empfield

Brush Valley Twp, Indiana Co, PA - a farmer

He enlisted in the U. S. service in July, 1868 [sic]. He belonged to Co. B 11th Regiment Pennsylvania Reserves, and was wounded on the 20th of August, 1862, at the second battle of Bull Run, his skull being crushed in by a piece of a shell. He was taken prisoner, and was in the hands of the enemy until September 6, 1862, when he was paroled, and arrived at Carver Hospital September 7. He was discharged October 29, of the same year.
