This branch of the Thomas family came to Clarion County, PA, from Wash­ington County, PA. Their previous home had been in Sussex County, Del. The progenitor in Washington County, James Thomas, was a descendant of Thomas Thomas, one of the early settlers on the Oatuxent river in Mary­land, and came to America in the latter part of 1635.
