Wayne Twp, Lawrence Co, PA

He was reared to manhood in the vicinity of Chewton, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and there received his early educational training. The farm on which he lived after his marriage, he inherited partly from his father, buying the remainder of his brother. It was a heavily timbered tract at the time and he had to make a clearing in order to erect a home. The part he purchased was paid for by the timber he sold off the tract. Later a limestone quarry was operated.
Fraternally, he was once a member of the Ancient Order of United Workmen. He was a Republican in politics, but exercised the privilege of supporting the man he deemed best fitted for the office.
