General Notes: Husband - Prof. John W. Elliott

After receiving his primary education in the public schools, he attended Callensburg Academy, subsequently (in 1897) graduating from the Ohio State Normal School at Lebanon, Ohio. He immediately began his life work by teaching in winter and assisting on the farm in summer, and continued doing so for some time. Previous to his going to Stoneham he taught principally in district schools, with the exception of two terms in the Morrisville graded school. In 1896 he accepted the principalship of the Stoneham school. During the vacations of some years Prof. Elliott represented the Rand, McNally & Co. books, and also handled school furniture.
He was a member, and vice grand, of the order of the I. O. O. F., and also a member of the Knights of Pythias. He served as auditor of Forest County. Both he and Mrs. Elliott were liberal supporters of the M. E. Church.
