General Notes: Husband - John Elliott

---

He served in the Mexican War: Enlisted in the Mounted Rifle Regiment, July 10, 1846, and was Second Sergeant of his company. Served under Gen. Taylor at Monterey, and under Gen. Scott on the Vera Cruz line and in the taking of the City of Mexico. Fought in the battles of Contrares, Cherebusco, Molna del Rey and Chapultopeck, and received a certificate of merit for distinguished service in the first named engagement.
