He had excellent school advantages in the home neighborhood, and equally good training for the practical duties of life, which has made him one of the best farmers in his locality. He has continued the cultivation of the farm along modern lines, and is regarded as one of the substantial men of his township, upholding a good name worthily by his industry and good citizenship. He was a Republican and a member of Amity Presbyterian Church, as were his ancestors for two generations before him. [HVC 1919, 1035]
