General Notes: Husband - George Johnston

He was born on Penn avenue, in Wilkins township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where he was reared and educated. He learned the plasterer's trade and followed that calling until he was forty years old, when he entered the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, with whom he remained until reaching the age limit, when he retired on a pension. During the Civil war he served in the City Guard. In politics he was a Republican, in this respect following in the footsteps of his ancestors, as he also did in matters of religion, having always adhered to the Presbyterian faith.
