General Notes: Husband - John Elder

---

He came to the United States in 1802, and settled in Slippery Rock, later Scott, township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and bought a farm, later owned by the McCracken estate, where he lived until his death at the age of eighty-five.

Fifteen children-ten daughters and five sons-were born to him and his wife, and all of them grew up to maturity.
