General Notes: Husband - Francis W. Rutherford


He received his education in the public schools of Swatara township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, until he was seventeen years of age, when he attended the Millersville State Normal School. In 1864 he enlisted in company D, One Hundred and Ninety-fourth regiment, and served until honorably discharged. After the war he engaged in farming with his father.
He was a school director and a member of Post No. 58, G. A. R., Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In politics he was a Republican and he and his family were members of the Presbyterian church.
