General Notes: Husband - Samuel R. Eicher

He was reared in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, and learned the trade of carpentering. In 1864 he enlisted in Company E, Sixth Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery, and was mustered out at the close of the war. About 1867 he removed to West Overton, Westmoreland County, where he followed his trade. In 1870 he located at Scottdale and engaged in contracting and building, which business he followed during the remainder of his active life. In addition to a great number of dwellings and business houses, the First Methodist Episcopal church, the Baptist church and the Catholic church, stood as monuments to his skill. He was one of the founders and first directors of the Scottdale Building Association. He became a member of the Christian church in the year 1867, and was one of its readiest supporters. About five years previous to his death, he was afflicted with paralysis, which left him an invalid.
