General Notes: Husband - S. Grier Sloan

He was reared on his father's farm, receiving his primary education in the neighboring schools. Subsequently he attended, for a time, the more advanced school of State Normal and the academy in Armstrong County. At the age of eighteen years he came with his parents to a farm, and partially followed agricultural pursuits through much of his life. In connection with farming he was engaged in the oil business, having on his land three oil-producing wells.
In his religious belief he was a Presbyterian. He was a member of the A. O. U. W., and passed all the chairs in that order. In politics he was a Democrat, and filled several local offices, among which was that of school director, for about twelve years.

General Notes: Wife - Esther Ehrenfeld

She was a Lutheran in her religious beliefs.
She was for five years president of the Woman's Christian Temperance Alliance of Clarion County, Pennsylvania, and was repeatedly a delegate to State and National Conventions.
