The Edwards family had a dairy herd and established a dairy business, in which Alton worked. As the airport in Ponca City, Oklahoma, was established and the city grew, the Edwards land became absorbed until the airport bought the last few acres to enlarge its landing strip. Alton lived in the family home until his mother died.
