He was probably born in the Cumberland Valley, and died at Clarksville, Greene County, Pennsylvania, having attained an advanced age. A large part of his life was passed at Sawmill Run, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh. He was a farmer. He and his wife were both were members of the Presbyterian church.
