General Notes: Husband - Timothy Dunn

When a young man, he was seized by a "press gang," in Ireland, impressed into the British military service, and sent, with an English army, to the American colonies, which were then in rebellion against the mother country. Soon after landing he made his escape from his captors and enlisted in the continental army under George Washington. He enlisted first, in 1777, as a private, and served three years under Captain Samuel Barker and Colonel Jonathan Meigs. His second enlistment was in 1782, and served one year under General Waterbury. He saw much hard service, engaged in many battles, including Stony Point and Horseneck.
He married and settled at Wallingford, Connecticut.
