A native of Germany, he made his home in Maryland after coming to the New World until driven out by the British soldiers during the Revolutionary war, when he located in Centre County, Pennsylvania, but later came to Clearfield County, taking up his residence on a farm later owned by Mrs. Robert Leonard, and remaining there until his death.
