General Notes: Husband - Dr. John Melvin Dunkle


He was educated in the public schools of Clarion County, Pennsylvania, and took a preparatory course at Sligo, and Clarion Normal School. In 1909 he received his degree of Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of the University of Pittsburgh. He served his interneship at Mercy Hospital, 1909-1910, after which he located at Worthington, Pennsylvania. In 1918 he came to Butler, where he then engaged in the practice of his profession.
He was a member of the Butler County Medical Society, the Pennsylvania State Medical Society, and American Medical Association. As a fraternalist he was a member of Phi Rho Sigma fraternity; Victory Lodge, A. F. and A. M., No. 694, New Castle; Consistory, thirty-second degree, New Castle; Syria Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S., Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Syria Caravan, No. 14, A. A. O. N. M. S., Butler.
In political matters Doctor Dunkle was a Republican, and while a resident of Worthington was a member of the City Council and served as its president for five years. He was a member of the Methodist Church, while Mrs. Dunkle belonged to the United Presbyterian Church.
