General Notes: Husband - Joseph Smith Duncan


When twenty-two years of age he left Pennsylvania for the West; first locating in Kansas. From there he went to Iowa. While in that state he became engaged in the hardware and machinery business, after which he returned to Sioux City, Iowa, and became an inventor and manufacturer. He first invented the Addressograph. His later inventions were the Dupligraph, Graphotype and Icecubator. His principal office was in Chicago where he resided, but he had offices in all the principal cities of the United States, employing more than one thousand people.
