General Notes: Husband - David Grier Smith

He was educated in the public schools of his native place, and at the age of sixteen years entered the employ of E. G. Procious, at Oak Ridge. He remained in the latter place for three years, at the expiration of which time he went to New Bethlehem, where he secured a position with the Fairmont Store Company, where he remained for the ensuing ten years. In the fall of 1908 he located in New Bethlehem, and opened a shoe store under the firm name of D. G. Smith. In politics he was aligned as a staunch supporter of the principles promulgated by the Democratic party, and in a fraternal way was a valued and appreciative member of the Knights of the Tented Maccabees.
Religiously he was a devout member of the German Reformed church, while his wife was a Baptist. Both were active church workers.
