He was a native of England, and settled on the Swatara one and one-half miles above Middletown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. [CBEDC, 113]

This family is of English origin, the first ancestor to cross the ocean being William Harris. He located in Derry township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and he and his wife passed their last days there, their remains being interred in Derry graveyard. [CBRCP-CCUS, 871]

He came from Wales and located in Paxton township, of then Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [CBRCP-CCUS, 771]

It is likely that he was related to John Harris, the pioneer of Harris' Ferry.
