He was born near Freeport, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and accompanied his parents on their re­moval to Paint township, Clarion County. He aided in the arduous task of clearing and develop­ing the home farm, and to its cultivation and further improvement devoted his time and atten­tion until called from this life.
